EDOF - extended depth of field

Clear images even outside the normal depth range

Extended depth of field, also known as focus stacking, is a digital imaging technique that combines multiple images taken at different focus distances. These then produce an image with a greater depth of field than the individual source images.

Focus stacking can be used wherever individual images have a very shallow depth of field. The EDOF capture mode can take multiple images with different degrees of sharpness and automatically combine them into one clear image with a click of the mouse. The EDOF images retain the image quality of the original images and can be saved and viewed in the DinoCapture 2.0 software.

*EDOF is only available with EDOF Dino-Lite models and when using DinoCapture 2.0 for Windows.

EDOF is more than photo stacking

Refokus mode: If you right-click, you can select a different focus point in your image. This does not physically move your USB digital microscope out of position.

One-Touc Autofocus: Automatically focus and refocus as long as your subject is within the focus range.

DPQ: Capture depth information with compatible models. Users can gain depth information from the focus shift between two focus planes during live imaging.

Tip
Dino-Lite Microscope AM7915MZT
The microscope is a useful instrument for precise measurements that can be made quickly and easily via the software. With the measurement function you can determine lines, angles, radii and circles. The measurement results and the corresponding image can be exported to Excel at the click of a mouse to create a complete measurement protocol. A direct transfer of the magnification into the DinoCapture software is ensured by the automatic magnification readout . This allows measurements to be taken both in the LIVE image and later on stored images. An precise calibration of the microscope is essential to perform precise measurements. Thanks to the ease of use of the supplied calibration standard and the user-friendly software, calibration can be performed quickly and easily. The software guides you step by step through the calibration process to achieve the best results. In the aerospace industry, extended depth of field through the EDOF function can help to obtain more precise images of aircraft parts and spacecrafts. This can help improve the safety and efficiency of aircrafts and spacecrafts. Good illumination is important in microscopy to achieve good results. Dino-Lite microscopes come with their own illumination - 8 white LEDs built into a ring light. Using the FLC (Flexible Light Control), the LEDs can be dimmed from 100% to 6.25% or switched off completely. In addition, the LEDs can be switched on and off in pairs. This way - if needed - the light can shine on the workpiece from different directions and lead to even better results. The Polarisation filter is also used for suitable illumination of the specimens. Due to the infinitely variable adjustment, light reflections occurring on the material can be reduced as far as possible.. Thanks to the front cap system of the microscope, you can work without a front cap to obtain a clear and undistorted view of the object to be examined. This makes the examination and analysis of samples much easier. Front caps are supplied with the microscope (may vary depending on the microscope) and can be easily added to ensure optimal adaptation to the specific application. By using the diffusers, a special light diffusion can be achieved which helps to reduce light reflections. If you need assistance in choosing the right Dino-Lite microscope, we are at your disposal. Dino-Lite microscopes are a series of different microscopes that can be connected to a Windows computer or Mac PC via USB. In addition, there are the series that have their own wireless connection and thus send the signal directly to a smartphone. The included software enables quick measurement of surfaces and components. The measurement results can be transferred directly to Excel. In addition, the images can be exported in almost any image format for further processing. With up to 5 megapixel resolution, even the small details can be displayed clearly and distinctly. The built-in chipset enables exceptionally good colour and image reproduction. Depending on the handheld microscope, you can achieve up to 900x magnification. As a rule, normal use is between 50x and 230x magnification. Various features then round off the overall package of the Dino-Lite microscopes.

The microscope's software makes measurements quick and easy. With the measurement function, lines, angles, radii and circles can be determined. The measurement results can be exported to Excel with a click of the mouse together with the corresponding image, which enables the creation of a comprehensive measurement protocol. With the AMR function (automatic magnification readout) , the magnification is automatically transferred from the microscope to the software. This reduces measurement errors and increases accuracy. Measurements can be made both in the LIVE image and later in the saved images. Calibrating the microscope is an important step in order to be able to perform accurate measurements. With the enclosed calibration standard, the microscope can be calibrated with ease and automatically. The DinoCapture software guides you through the necessary steps to ensure a reliable calibration. In microscopy, an extended depth of field achieved by the EDOF function can help to capture the smallest details of cells and tissue samples. This is crucial for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. The microscope is equipped with an advanced front cap system that allows you to work without a front cap and have an even better view of the object under examination. For optimal adaptation to different applications, various front caps are supplied with the microscope (may vary depending on the microscope), which can be easily mounted. By using diffusers, a different type of light scattering can be achieved, which reduces light reflections and thus enables better image quality. Need help finding the right Dino-Lite microscope?
